Kerala Mahila Congress chief Lathika Subhash resigned from the party and shaved her head off in protest on Sunday after she was denied party ticket from Ettumanoor constituency for the upcoming assembly polls in Kerala.

The 55-year-old senior leader got her head shaved off in front of the Congress office to protest against inadequate representation of women candidates in the list.

She accused

the party of ignoring women who have reportedly served the party for protracted years.

Of the list of 86 candidates released today by the Congress, only 9 are women, as reported by news agency PTI.

Subhash also announced that she has no plans of joining the party and would contest as an independent player in the assembly polls.

Polls in Kerala are going to take place on April 6.
