The Kerala government has sounded an alert along its coast in view of a well marked low pressure over the Indian Ocean.
The decision was taken at a meeting in Thiruvananthapuram chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.The state government has asked officials to ensure return of fishermen engaged in deep-sea fishing.
Officials said, the
services of the Navy and Coast Guard have been sought to bring back the fishermen.The alert comes as the MeT department said the low pressure was likely to intensify into a depression.
In November last year, Cyclone Ochki had hit the coasts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep. It claimed the lives of several fishermen and left many missing.
