Kerala Health Minister Veena George has said that test results of eight persons in contact with the 14-year-old boy who succumbed to the Nipah virus last Sunday have returned negative. She was addressing an online meeting convened at the Malappuram District Collectorate yesterday evening. Two persons were admitted to the Medical Colleges at Manjeri and Kozhikode yesterday, bringing
the total number of patients admitted to the two hospitals to eight.
472 persons are in the contact list of the Nipah victim, of which 220 are in the high-risk category. A fever survey undertaken by the health authorities in Pandikkad and Anakkyam Panchayats has so far covered over 27,900 households.
