Vijayawada: Kesineni Srinivas (Nani), a two-time parliamentarian from Vijayawada, has announced his retirement from active politics. Nani, who won the Vijayawada parliament seat in 2014 and 2019 on a TD ticket contested this time on a YSRC ticket and lost to his brother Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni). Chinni won the seat with a thumping majority against his brother. Nani quit the TD after he developed problems with the party high command and it eventually allocated the Vijayawada LS ticket to his brother Chinni. Nani joined the YSRC earlier this year.

Announcing his decision to quit active politics, Nani posted on X on Monday, “After a careful consideration and reflection, I have decided to step away from politics and conclude my political journey.” Thanking the people for their support during his two stints, Nani said, “Serving

the people of Vijayawada as an MP for two terms has been an incredible honour. The resilience and determination of the people of Vijayawada have been my inspiration.”

Nani said, “Although I am stepping away from the political arena, my commitment to Vijayawada remains strong. I will continue to support and advocate for the betterment of Vijayawada in any way I can.” “My heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported me in my political journey. As I move on to the next chapter, I carry with me cherished memories and invaluable experiences,” he said. Known for his straightforward nature in politics, Nani, during his stint as an MP, successfully undertook multiple infrastructure projects including the Kanaka Durga Durga flyover at Durga temple and the Benz Circle flyover.
