Kolkata: 22-year-old air hostess found dead outside her apartment

A young woman, working as an air hostess for a private airline, was found dead outside her house near the Kolkata airport today.

Locals discovered the body of 22-year-old Khongsit Clara Bansha Rai, lying in a pool of blood, outside her east Kolkata residence this morning and informed the police.

Police suspect that the young woman fell off the third floor of her apartment building. Clara, who belongs to Shillong in Meghalaya, was staying at the apartment for more than eight months.

She, along with two others, was reportedly celebrating a friend's birthday at her place on Tuesday



night.

"Around 4 am this morning, we saw her lying on the road in front of the house. Although we don't know her name, we could recognise the girl as she lives in our locality. Her father is also known to us. She used to work as an air hostess with Indigo airlines," said a neighbour.

Police are investigating the cause of death and have sent the body for post-mortem. Forensic teams have also visited the accident site.

Police have detained two of the deceased's friends, a man and another female, for questioning. According to sources, all of them could have been under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred.
