In Kerala, the district authorities in Kozhikode have withdrawn all restrictions imposed in areas declared containment zones following Nipah infections. District Collector A Geetha issued an order to this effect, withdrawing restrictions imposed in seven wards of Kozhikode Corporation and in Feroke Municipality. Educational institutions in these areas will resume normal functioning from today.
Meanwhile, State
Health Minister Veena George said Kozhikode will be declared Nipah-free only if no new positive cases were reported for 42 days ( i.e double the incubation period of Nipah virus) and hence public should continue to exercise caution till the 26th of next month.
The authorities have advised public to continue social distancing and use of masks and sanitisers.
