In Ladakh, Kargil Town will be uplifted into a smart city by making Multi-layer Parking, Solid Waste Management, Winter- Friendly Public Convenience.
This was informed during a meeting chaired by Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan to review the implementation of various urban development projects for Kargil Town which have been sanctioned under the Special Development Package (SDP).
Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary, Director Urban Local Bodies Ladakh Moses Kunzang, President of Municipal Council, Kargil Zaheer Hussain Babar, Councillors of Kargil Town, Poyen and Baroo besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed in detail all issues related to the identification of land, sites, formulation of DPRs and other related aspects for timely start of work on the sanctioned
projects.
It was informed during the meeting that various projects including the construction of a multitier parking car parking at a cost of Rs. 15 crore, establishment of solid waste management and sewerage treatment plants at a total cost of Rs. 11 crore, open space parks at a cost of Rs. 15 crore, truck terminal at a cost of Rs. five crore , winter-friendly public convenience at a cost of Rs. two crore besides construction of bus stand, slaughter houses, setting up of street lights and other projects have been sanctioned by the by the Government of India under SDP for Kargil Town.
As regards to the establishment of solid waste management and sewerage treatment plants, the CEC directed to identify land for the two projects at Kurbathang near Choskore Road and submit the report in this regard to the Deputy Commissioner, Kargil at the earliest.
