Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, 76, was hospitalised on Wednesday after his health deteriorated while he was on his way to the Patna airport to fly to Delhi. The RJD chief, who was to board an Air India flight at 4.05 pm, has been admitted to Paras Hospital.
Sources said the health of Lalu Prasad, who is battling heart-related ailments, worsened due to a spike in blood sugar levels.
The RJD chief is likely to be taken to AIIMS, Delhi, in an air ambulance later today.
"We knew that his blood pressure and sugar level were fluctuating. He is going to Delhi, and he will return after a check-up. There is no need to worry. The blessings of 13 crore people of Bihar are with him. He is one who always fights against communal forces... he is required," RJD leader Bhai Virendra told reporters.
