In poll-bound Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry, today is the last date for the withdrawal of nominations. In Tamil Nadu, 7151 nominations were filed and 4131 papers have been accepted. In Kerala, out of 1646 nominations filed, 160 were rejected. In Puducherry, 424 candidates have filed nominations for the polls to the 30 member Territorial Assembly. The election campaign is proceeding at a brisk pace as polling is less than two weeks away. 
Charges and counter charges fly thick and fast in the election rallies in Tamil Nadu as the May 16 polling is approaching fast.



The BJP leader and Union Minister Venkiah Naidu in Tirunelveli last night attacked the Communists as opportunists saying its ally in one state is an opponent in another. He said the Congress and the Communists are blocking development by crippling the functioning of Parliament. DMK treasurer MK Stalin said in Rasipuram, the AIADMK has not released its election manifesto for fear of defeat, and promised Lok Ayukta.The PMK leader Dr Anbumani Ramadoss in Sholingur near Vellore said the people have lost hopes on both the AIADMK and the DMK, and are in favour of a change.
