The last rites of Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan will be performed in Patna this afternoon with full state honours. His mortal remains were flown to the Bihar capital last night. Paswan passed away at a private hospital in Delhi on Thursday evening. His mortal remains have been kept at the LJP headquarters in Patna for the party supporters to pay their last respects.
President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid their last respects to the LJP leader. The President visited the residence of the departed leader in Delhi yesterday to pay his tributes. The Prime Minister also visited the residence and
met the family members of Paswan. Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Dr Harsh Vardhan and BJP President JP Nadda and a host of leaders from various political parties paid their last respects.
The Union Cabinet also condoled the demise of the Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister. During its meeting, the Cabinet observed two-minute silence in memory of the departed leader. In its resolution, the Cabinet said, in his passing away, the nation has lost an eminent leader, a distinguished Parliamentarian and an able administrator.
