Leh: Union Territory Ladakh celebrated 74th Republic Day with festive fervor across the region. Ladakh Lieutenant Governor RK Mathur unfurled the National Flag at the historic Polo Grounds in Leh.
Ladakh LG RK Mathur unfurled tricolor in Leh to celebrate the 74th Republic Day in the Union Territory. Speaking to the gathering, he said that under India’s presidency, the scheduled G 20 event will be a rare opportunity to showcase the rich culture and heritage of Ladakh.
Mr Mathur congratulated Thiksey Rinpoche for being conferred Padma Shri award and greeted the state awardees and Ladakh police officers for prestigious Police Medals for meritorious services.
He listed various developmental and welfare activities after becoming a Union Territory and objectives for the future under various sectors.
He said, infrastructure development in the Health Sector, successful conversion of Primary Health Centres into e-Hospitals, and full
coverage of ABHA ID cards have improved medical and health services in Ladakh. 2023 will be dedicated for improvement of services to Divyangjan.
Mr Mathur said, while phasing out Diesel Generator sets, the administration is constructing grid transmission lines and substations in Nubra and Zanskar. Similarly, in the education sector, half of the targets were achieved by establishing 40 Astronomy Labs and 24 Atal Tinkering Labs, in Ladakh.
A colorful demonstration of cultural and national integration programmes enthralled the gathering. Earlier, Mr Mathur laid a wreath at the war memorial near the Hall of Fame in Leh. Senior officers of the Fire and Fury Corps were also present in the ceremony.
Similarly, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh Chief Executive Councillor Tashi Gyaltson in Leh, and Feroz Ahmed Khan in Kargil unfurled the national flag in their respective districts.
