In Bihar, at least 12 people were killed and four injured due to lightning and rain-related mishaps in the last 24 hours. State officials said four deaths have been reported in Buxar and Banka due to lightning strikes. One death each has been reported in Katihar, Kaimur, Bhagalpur, Rohtas, Jehanabad Jamui, and Aurangabad districts due to lightning. 

Officials said maximum casualties happened when people were working in the fields during the rains. In Munger, one person died, and two others were injured when a wall collapsed following



heavy rain. 

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed grief over the deaths. He has announced an ex-gratia of four lakh rupees each to the family members of those who have died in the incidents.

The Met department has predicted heavy rain in several parts including Madhubani, Sitamarhi, and West Champaran district. The Disaster Management Department has cautioned people to not to venture out during rains in view of thunderstorms and lightning.
