The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution denouncing the Pahalgam terror attack. In a strongly worded resolution, the assembly expressed shock and anguish over the incident and resolved to fight resolutely to defeat the nefarious designs to disturb communal harmony and hinder the progress of the nation and Jammu and Kashmir.
The resolution, moved by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary during a special session of the Assembly, was passed by voice vote. At the beginning of the session, House members observed a two-minute silence to pay homage to those killed in
the terror attack.
Addressing the Assembly, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that Kashmir has revolted against terrorism for the first time since the onset of terrorism, following the Pahalgam attack. The Chief Minister praised the spontaneous outpouring of grief and condemnation across the region, marking the beginning of the end of terrorism. He highlighted the unprecedented public response, with Kashmiris coming together to reject terrorism. Mr. Abdullah expressed hope, stating that terrorism will end when the people stand united.
