Chennai: In Tamilnadu, local body elections for nine newly created districts will be held in two phases. 

State election Comissioner V.Palanikumar said that the polls will be conducted on October 6 and nine. 

The Counting will be held on October 12. 

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, he said that the code of conduct will come into immediate effect in Kanchipuram , Chengalpet, Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur,



Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Tirunelveli and Tenkasi districts. 

Filing of nomination would begin on September 15 and continue till 22nd of the month. 

A total of 76 lakh 59 thousand 720 voters would exercise their franchise from 7 am to 6pm. 

The Government plans to engage more than one lakh  employees on poll duty which will be held with Covid Protocol
