Kota: Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla on Tuesday said that India can become self-reliant only when farmers adopt innovations, new techniques and trends of the agriculture sector to maximise production from minimum land and investment.
Mr Birla was speaking after inaugurating a two-day agriculture fair and exhibition in Rajasthan's Kota. The Lok Sabha speaker said that while farmers brought the green revolution, the focus should now be the white revolution in the form of milk production and animal husbandry.
Taking to Twitter, the Lok Sabha speaker urged the
farmers to make their region a leading centre of the Green, White and Blue Revolution. He said that the government will help farmers in every possible way and will provide every new technology and information to them to help boost farm yield.
Mr Birla said that through the exhibition, startups will help farmers not only understand innovations but also new techniques of processing the produce and getting more income by doing value addition. He said that farmers will also learn new techniques devised by scientists and progressive farmers.
