Telugu Desam national general secretary MA Sharief was yesterday unanimously elected Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council. Mandali incharge chairman Reddy Subramanyam announced the election of Sharief as chairman of the Council unanimously.
Later, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu congratulated him and escorted him to the seat. Appreciating his services, Naidu said the party has kept its promise of giving posts to the Muslim Minorities. He said 78.5 percent people in the State are happy with the TD government and hoped
that the new chairman will conduct the Council in a proper manner.
Replying on the occasion, Sharief said he would uphold the dignity of the Upper House and serve the people. Born in Narsapuram of West Godavari district on January 1, 1955, Sharief did B Com from local YN College, M.Com and LLB from Bhopal. He joined the TD when it was floated by party founder NT Rama Rao and has been in the party till date and holding various capacities. He also served as the whip in the Council.
