Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh government implemented Police Commissionerate system in Bhopal and Indore. A notification in this regard has been issued.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that, the Police Commissionerate system has been implemented in view of the law and order requirements arising out of geographical expansion and technology. He said, the new system will not only strengthen law and order, but will also help in solving problems and cracking down on criminals.

Home Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra has informed that for effective



implementation of law and order and population of both the cities exceeding 10 lakh, the State Government has declared urban areas and borders as metropolitan areas as per constitutional provisions.

The Police Commissioner system covers the boundaries of 36 police stations in Indore and 38 police stations in Bhopal.

Inspector-General of Police level officer will be the Commissioner of Police in both the cities. The Commissioner of Police will have the powers of the Executive Magistrate.
