The Maharashtra government has already started planning and gearing up for the third wave. Experts have warned that the third wave of Covid-19 is likely to impact children. In view of this apprehension, the Maharashtra government has decided to set up a paediatric task force.
Maharashtra Health minister Rajesh Tope informed that the state government has decided to set up a special paediatric task force. He said as per recommendations of this task force various facilities like beds, paediatric ventilators, Special Newborn
Care Units beds etc. will be set up by the state government.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray also had a discussion with paediatric doctors regarding this. Besides, Tope informed that in order to increase oxygen supply, the state has given orders for setting more than 150 Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) medical oxygen plants which will commence in the coming days. While about 38 PSA plants have been commissioned so far, generating about 53 metric tons of oxygen per day.
