The Maharashtra Cabinet yesterday approved the Damanganga-Vaitarna-Godavari river-linking project along with Damanganga-Ekdare-Godavari, which will resolve the problem of water scarcity in North Maharashtra and Marathwada regions.
Both the river-linking projects are worth 15,710 rupees. For the Damanganga-Vaitarna-Godavari river-linking project, the Cabinet sanctioned a proposal of 13,497 crore rupees. Due to this proposed project, 160.97
MLD of water will be available, and 33,110 hectares of land will be under irrigation.
Similarly, for the Damanganga-Ekdare-Godavari river-linking project, a proposal of 2,213 rupees crore had been approved. Due to this project, 100 MLD water will be available, and 12,998 hectares of area will come under irrigation, which will completely transform the Sinnar taluka in Nashik district.
