The Maharashtra government has convened a meeting with an OBC delegation on the 29th of September in Mumbai, following protests demanding that the reservation for the Maratha community should be kept outside the reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC) category.

The meeting will be attended by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his deputies Devendra

Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar. As the issue of Maratha reservation is gaining momentum in the State, OBC  organisations are also on indefinite protests across Maharashtra for the past 12 days. They have demanded that Marathas should not be issued Kunbi certificates and they should not be included within the OBC category.
