Maharashtra CM directs officials to set up ‘Mahatech’ for trillion-dollar economy goal

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed concerned officials to set up ‘Mahatech’, an organisation that will speed up the State’s planning process and play an important role in achieving the goal of a trillion-dollar economy. Chairing a review meeting regarding the strengthening of the GEO-Spatial Technology system to accelerate the Futuristic Development and Planning Process, Mr. Fadnavis said yesterday, that Mahatech will leverage space technology and geospatial technology to efficiently plan asset management, urban development and natural resource planning, which in turn will strengthen people-oriented and transparent administration. 

The Chief Minister



directed the Planning Department to create a dedicated cell for the expansion of the Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti scheme in the state. In a social media post, Mr. Fadnavis said, that the Maharashtra Remote Sensing Application Centre, MRSAC possesses a vast repository of valuable data, which can be effectively utilized for future planning and decision-making. He further emphasized that integrating MahaTech, IT, and MRSAC will help accelerate work through coordination across all departments.

During the meeting, Chief Conservator of Forests Ravikiran Govekar gave a presentation on the use of geospatial and space technology in administration.
