Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis vowed strict action against the perpetrators of recent acts of violence in Nagpur. Addressing the state assembly on the law and order situation after the recent violent incidents, Mr. Fadnavis, who also holds the home portfolio, said that the investigation is on and no conclusions have been drawn yet.

He however hinted that the incidents seemed to have been deliberately planned to

incite violence. Stating that there have been no communal riots in Nagpur since 1992, Mr Fadnavis said rumours regarding the burning of a religious text were intentionally spread.

Acknowledging the challenges in maintaining law and order, the Chief Minister informed that the government is committed to tackling them, adding that peace and calm has been established in Nagpur
