Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has urged the state government employees and teachers to withdraw their indefinite strike as the government is ready to discuss all their demands. The state government employees have resorted to strike to press the government to revert back to the old pension scheme.
Speaking in the state assembly this evening, Mr. Shinde said the government has formed a three member committee of retired IAS officers, namely Subodh Kumar, K P Bakshi and Sudhir Kumar Srivastva to compare the old and the new pension schemes and suggest a middle alternative.
He said the government cannot announce any
hurried decision that may have long term financial implications on the state exchequer. He said the committee has been asked to submit its report within three months, following which a decision will be made. The Chief Minister further assured the employees, that all those who would be retiring in the coming months will get the benefit, as and when it is decided and hence the employees must immediately withdraw their strike.
Looking at the positive response from the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the state’s primary teachers’s association has announced its decision to withdraw from the strike.
