Maharashtra State Election Commission has ordered to hold the reservation lottery on 29th July 2022 for the elections of 13 municipal corporations in the state. This lottery will be drawn for Other Backward Class, Other Backward Class - women and general category seats for women.
The reservation lottery was held on May 31 for the election of 13 municipalities including Navi Mumbai, Vasai-Virar, Kalyan-Dombivali, Kolhapur, Thane, Ulhasnagar, Nashik, Pune, Pimpri-Chinchawad, Solapur, Amravati, Akola and Nagpur. However, according to the order given by the Supreme Court on July 20, it has to be
amended now.
As per the Court order, the State Election Commission has also passed an amendment order for the general elections of 25 Zilla Parishads and 285 Panchayat Committees in the state. Accordingly, the reservation lottery will be drawn on 28th July for SC, ST, OBC and Women categories including SC, ST, OBC and General.
Similarly, the State Election Commission has also passed an amendment order for the elections of 155 Nagar Parishads and 9 Nagar Panchayat in the state. Accordingly, the reservation lottery for the same will be drawn on 28th July.
