Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan inaugurated the 62nd National Maritime Day and the Merchant Navy Week at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai yesterday. Addressing the officers, the Governor stressed the importance of the maritime sector to achieve the goal of Viksit Bharat. He called for better coordination between the Directorate General of Shipping, the Shipping Corporation of India, the Container Corporation, the Railways and traders. He further expressed the need for the modernisation of ports in the country.

on the Governor’s jacket and presented a memento and a Coffee Table Book to the Governor.

Chief Surveyor and Additional Director General of Shipping Ajit Sukumaran, Deputy Director General Pandurang Raut, Chairman of the Shipping Corporation of India, Captain B. K. Tyagi, Chief Ship Surveyor Pradeep Sudhakar, Deputy Director General Dr. Sudhir Kohakade, Deputy Nautical Advisor Captain Nitin Mukesh, Shipping Master Mukul Dutta, Captain Sankalp Shukla, and General Secretary of the National Union of Seafarers, Milind Kandalgavkar were among those present
