In Maharashtra, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi has announced that each party, namely the Congress, NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar), and Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), will contest on 85 seats each. Discussions on the remaining seats will commence tomorrow. These seats will be given to other small parties.
Out of a total of 288 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly, the ruling Mahayuti has declared its candidates from 182 constituencies. These include 99 from the BJP, 45 from the Shiv Sena, and 38 from the NCP. From the opposition MahaVikas Aghadi, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) has declared its first list of 65 candidates.
As per the list, Aditya Thackeray will contest from the Worli seat once again, while Kedar Dighe has been fielded against Chief Minister Eknath
Shinde from his stronghold Kopri-Pachpakhadi. Mumbai’s Mahim seat will see a triangular contest with Shiv Sena (UBT) fielding Mahesh Sawant against MNS candidate Raj Thackery’s son Amit Thackeray and Shiv Sena’s sitting MLA Sada Sarvankar.
Among other prominent candidates announced by Shiv Sena (UBT), Rajan Vichare will fight from Thane, Sunil Raut will contest from Vikhroli, and Sunil Prabhu will once again fight from Dindoshi. On the other hand, Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi has declared its candidates for 83 seats so far, while MNS has released its first list of 45 candidates. More than 160 candidates have filed their nominations for the upcoming assembly polls in Maharashtra. However, major candidates will start filing their nominations from tomorrow.
