Mumbai: Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis on Wednesday said that the state will take appropriate action to ensure that the ban imposed on Popular Front of India and its associates/affiliates/fronts is strictly followed.
Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Mr. Fadnavis said there is enough proof to establish that PFI and its associates were sowing seeds of violence with an aim to destroy communal harmony.
Mr. Fadnavis, who also holds the Home Portfolio, cited a recent incident wherein violence erupted in
Amravati district following a fake news that a masjid had been demolished in a north eastern state. Holding PFI responsible for the incident, Mr. Fadnavis said the organisation used fake news and narratives to achieve its goal.
Mr. Fadnavis said that PFI’s financing models have also been unearthed, revealing that they opened a large number of accounts with small deposits to avoid attracting any attention. He said all such accounts will now be traced and the financial transactions will be examined in detail.
