A parliamentary delegation from Maldives met the Speaker of Lok Sabha, Om Birla, at the Parliament on Tuesday. The visiting delegation is led by Speaker of the People’s Majlis of Maldives Abdul Raheem Abdulla.
During the meeting, Mr. Birla said that India and the Maldives have centuries-old cultural, economic, and trade relations. He said that the relationship with Maldives is an important pillar of
India’s Neighbourhood First policy and Vision Sagar.
He informed the delegation that India is celebrating the completion of 75 years of its Constitution, and a special discussion was also organised in this regard in the Parliament. He also apprised the delegation about the digital technology adopted by the Parliament of India in its functioning.
