Kolkata: In West Bengal, before the rituals of Durga Puja commences, people are seen hitting the road and gathering in and around Puja pandals, raising concern about spreading the Covid infection.
Traditionally Durga Puja begins from Sasthi but in Kolkata, people at large have started visiting the big budget Pandals since the last three to four days. Most renowned Puja organizers have thrown their pandals open for the spectators to avoid crowding on the five days of
festivity.
The State Government also issued guidelines regarding following Covid norms. However, people in general are seen flouting the norms which raises concern of spreading the Covid-19 infection. The Director of State Health Services Dr Ajay Chakraborty alerts people and asks all to behave sensibly to avoid the possible third wave.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also been appealing to people to maintain covid guidelines and enjoy the festival safely.
