West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has proposed Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge's name for I.N.D.I.A. bloc's Prime Ministerial face.
According to sources, some other leaders also supported Mamata Banerjee but Mallikarjun Kharge said that right now elections are ahead and their focus should be on how to win polls, PM candidates will be decided later.
Reports said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also proposed Kharge's name for I.N.D.I.A. bloc's PM candidate.
When asked about Mamata Banerjee's suggestion at the I.N.D.I.A. Alliance meeting, MDMK (Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) MP Vaiko said, "There was no opposition to that suggestion - Mallikarjun Kharge for PM face."
Speaking on the alliance meeting, JMM MP Mahua Maji said, "The main discussion was regarding seat sharing. Some leaders wanted to have the seat sharing before
January 1. Discussions regarding the face of the Prime Minister were also done. No final decision was taken... Everyone said that PM's face will be decided after winning the elections..."
RJD MP Manoj Jha said, "Discussions were held clearly. Seat-sharing, mass contact program - all of these will begin within 20 days... All decisions will be taken within 3 weeks."
"All the decisions are taken with everyone's agreement. Whatever has been agreed upon by everyone will be announced in the press conference...," said RLD national president Jayant Chaudhary.
Former UP CM and Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav said, "...All parties are ready to hit the ground after the distribution of tickets very soon."
He also said, "I have said from the first day that the strategy of I.N.D.I.A. Alliance will be PDA. We will defeat BJP... UP mein 80 harao aur loktantra bachao..."
