The process of
Assembly elections in Manipur begins today with the issuance of notification
for the first phase. 38 seats of the 60-member Assembly will go to polls in the
first phase on the 4th of next month. The late date of filing of nominations is
the 14th of this month, while withdrawal of candidature can be done till the
18th. Two-phase polling was announced for the Manipur Assembly.
In Uttar Pradesh, notification will be issued
today for the sixth phase of seven-phase polls. 49 constituencies will go to
polls in the sixth phase on the 4th of next month.
style="background:white">Scrutiny of nominations will also take place today
for the fourth phase, in which polling will be held in 53 Assembly segments on
the 23rd of this month.Meanwhile, campaigning has reached its peak for
the first phase two phases of Up polls. Voting in the first phase will take
place on Saturday, while in the second phase, on the 15th of this month.
Electioneering has also reached a feverish pitch
in Uttarakhand, where polling will be held in a single phase on the 15th of
February. Uttar Pradesh has a 403-member Assembly, while Uttarakhand has 70
constituencies.
