In Manipur, the law and order situation has been improving in most of the districts with almost no untoward incident reported during the last twenty-four hours. The State police and Central forces are continuously conducting patrolling, flag marches, and cordon and search operations in vulnerable areas both in the hill and valley districts of the State.
A police report said that the combined forces recovered one hundred twelve empty cases of different calibers, two live rounds of twelve Bore guns, twelve empty cartridges of Barrel, and two locally made explosives during the search operation at Serou village to Molbem village. These villages are situated in the adjoining area of Kakching and Churachandpur districts of Manipur.
The Indian Army and Assam Rifles conducted a search operation in the general area of Imphal East
district yesterday and five persons were arrested for their involvement in illegal selling of arms and ammunition which were snatched from police.
Checkpoints have been increased by one hundred twenty both in the hill and valley districts and police detained more than four hundred people in connection with curfew violations in different districts of the State.
Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today visited a relief camp opened at Youth Hostel in Khuman Lampak Sports Complex and launched the scheme-One Time Financial Assistance For Clothing and Personal Belongings to Those Living in Relief Camps. He said that temporary houses for those persons who are taking shelter in different relief camps have already been constructed in Imphal East and Bishnupur district.
