The elections to three municipal corporations of Delhi will be held on 22nd of April. Briefing media in New Delhi, Delhi State Election Commissioner S K Srivastava said, filing of nominations will begin on 27th of this month.
He said, the votes will be counted on 25th April. Replying to a media query, Mr Srivastava said, Electronic Voting Machines, EVMs will be used in the elections. He said, maximum expenses by each candidate in the elections is five lakh 75 thousand rupees.There are 272 seats at stake,
with NDMC and SDMC accounting for 104 seats each, while 64 seats fall under EDMC.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had earlier expressed reservations about EVMs and sought the use of ballot papers in the civic body polls. He has directed Chief Secretary M M Kutty to write to the State Election Commission in this regard.
Earlier, Delhi Congress Chief Ajay Maken had also requested Mr Kejriwal to opt for ballot papers and shun EVMs in the corporation polls.
