The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday released candidate list for the upcoming Meghalaya Assembly elections.
The list of candidates contains 45 names those will contest the upcoming election in the state. The party is contesting for all 60 seats of the assembly giving a tough competition to the ruling Congress party in the state.
The party along with all the names of candidates also included former Congress leader AL Hek in the first list, who recently switched from Congress to BJP. He will be contesting
from Pynthorumkhrah constituency in East Khasi Hills.
Along with Hek, former NCP leader Sanbor Shullai has also found a place in the first list of BJP and he will be contesting from South Shillong.
The Meghalaya assembly elections will be held on February 27 and counting of votes will take place on March 3.
The northeastern state is currently governed by the Congress led Chief Minister Mukul Sangma as the party won 29 seats in the previous state elections held in 2013.
