Fairly widespread rain and snowfall activities are most likely to occur over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the next 24 hours due to western disturbance. 
Indian Meteorological Department has also forecast widespread rain or thundershower over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, northeast Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 hours. 
Yesterday, moderate to heavy rainfall lashed the national capital bringing down the temperature below normal. Heavy overcast conditions had plunged the city into near



darkness during the afternoon prompting vehicles to ply with headlights on. 
According to Met Department, the city had received 23.7 millimeter rainfall, which reports say was the rainiest January day in Delhi this century. Yesterday's maximum temperature was recorded 18.1 degree Celsius, four notches below normal while the minimum settled at 16 degree Celsius, seven degree above the normal. 
The weatherman has forecast partly cloudy sky for today with maximum and minimum temperature hovering around 17 and 14 degree Celsius.
