Srinagar: A gunfight broke out on Saturday evening in Budgam district of central Kashmir after militants opened fire on a patrolling party of the Army.
A patrolling party of 53 Rashtriya Rifles came under fire from militants at village Hayatpora, 18 km from here, around 6 pm, triggering a
gunbattle between the two sides, a police official said.
There was no immediate report of any casualty on the either side in the exchange of firing, he added. Reinforcements have been rushed to the village which was cordoned off to flush out the militants, the official added.
