Mumbai: Moderate to heavy rains continued to lash Mumbai and its suburbs yesterday. Traffic was affected in some parts of the city due to water logging. A busy subway between Andheri and Jogeshwari railway stations of the Western Railway had to be kept shut for traffic twice during the day due to accumulation of water around it.

According to the Regional IMD Bureau, since the onset of southwest monsoon over Mumbai on the 25th of June, the city has been getting heavy showers. As per the India

Meteorological Department's (IMD) data, the city has received more than 95 percent of the rainfall recorded this month in just six days between the 24th to the 29th of June.

According to the city civic body, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, incessant rainfall increased the water level of seven lakes that are supplying water to the city. The aggregate water stock of these reservoirs was 7.26 percent on the 28th of June, which has now gone up to 10.88 percent.
