Monsoon ends with 9% below normal rains

The Monsoon season has come to an end with a below normal showing this year as the country recorded a nine per cent deficit in rainfall. 

Met department said, overall, the country received 91 per cent rain of the Long Period Average, which falls under the below normal category. 

Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and northeastern states recorded the maximum deficiency.

This is the



second year in a row that the Monsoon has ended with below normal rain. 

This year saw Kerala receiving an unprecedented rain during the Monsoon triggering one of the worst flooding in a century in which scores of people were killed.

The weather agency said, Monsoon may have officially withdrawn, but several southern states, Goa and Maharashtra are expected to receive rainfall this week.
