Monsoon to hit Kerala coast today

South West Monsoon will hit Kerala today, Met Department has predicted heavy rain in Lakshadweep, Kerala, coastal Karnataka, south-interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar islands during the next 24 hours.

It said, there is an off-shore vortex over Kerala which is also



moving northwards, favouring the advance of southwest monsoon over the mainland. The monsoon has already arrived in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Met department has predicted normal monsoon this year by pegging the season’s rainfall at 97 percent of the long term average.
