Mortal remains of legendary actress Sridevi to arrive in India today

The mortal remains of legendary actress Sridevi will arrive in India today after the procedural formalities in UAE. Indian Consulate officials are currently working closely with the local authorities to expedite the repatriation procedures.

Indian Ambassador to UAE Navdeep Suri told that they are in touch with the local authorities and the family members to provide all possible assistance.The noted actress passed away in Dubai on Saturday night following a cardiac arrest. She had gone there along with her family to attend her nephew wedding. According to local reports, the actress had already died before reaching the hospital.

Bollywood and its fans lost one of the most legendary and a versatile actress Sridevi on Saturday night in Dubai.Sridevi, who was in the UAE to participate in a family wedding, reportedly died of a massive cardiac arrest.As per the UAE laws and procedure, efforts are on to complete the formalities to send the mortal remains of the noted actress to India.

The UAE rules require the authorities



to complete the investigation which includes an autopsy, forensic examination and lab test before a death certificate is handed to the family. The procedure takes 2-4 days Indian Consulate officials are currently working closely with the local authorities to expedite the repatriation procedures.

Husband Boney Kapoor who looked visibly distraught in this hour of personal tragedy is surrounded by his brother Sanjay Kapoor, their sister and some close family friends, who are making preparations to take the mortal remains of Sridevi back to Mumbai by a chartered flight.

Ambassador Navdeep Suri and the Consul General Vipul paid their condolences to the grieving family and have assured of all help and assistance in expediting the process.

Over five decades, Sridevi starred in more than 300 films, including such Bollywood classics as Mr India, Chandni, ChaalBaaz, Lamhe, Sadma and more recently, the much acclaimed English Vinglish and MOM. In 2013, the celebrated actress was awarded Padma Shri.
