Following the withdrawal of the call to boycott the ensuing election of Leh Hill Council, the Minister of state for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy visited Leh on Monday.
In a joint Press Conference with Apex body, He personally conveyed the assurances given to the veteran leaders of Ladakh by the Home Minister Amit Shah about constitutional safeguards to Ladakh and other development plans.
Mr Kishan Reddy appealed the public to participate in the elections to strengthen the democratic processes.
The Minister also held meeting with the all the members of the apex body.
Mr Reddy reiterated the commitment of Union Governement for granting Constitutional safeguards for the protection of culture, language and ethnicity of Ladakh.
He said, the welfare of people of
newly formed Ladakh Union Territory is the prime concern of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Government.
He further said, Union Government will not only consult, but also take consent of people of Ladakh. He also said, Union Government will soon announce development package for Ladakh.
Apex Body leader and former Member of Parliament Thupstan Chhewang said that the talks with the Home Minister Amit Shah remained conducive and friendly.
The words of assurance by the Home Minister Amit Shah have provided a ray of hope in fulfilment of the demands of Ladakh.
He also said, the Home Minister has given assurance to hold talks with all stakeholders of Ladakh regarding Constitutional safeguards within 15 days of completion of ensuing LAHDC elections.
