Maharashtra’s Transport Minister Anil Parab informed that all pending salary of State Transport Corporation employees for the last three months is being paid before Diwali. The government has announced a 1,000-crore rupee package for the corporation.
The Minister said that except for essential services, ST's passenger services were closed for five months during lockdown. During this period, ST has lost revenue worth around 3,000 crore rupees from passenger
transport.
As a result, other expenses including salaries, maintenance of vehicles, reconstruction of bus stands have increased and the salaries of the employees have remained unpaid. He said that the number of passengers is increasing day by day now and with the cooperation of the employees, the economy of ST will soon come back to normal. He said that the financial assistance from the government will also help in overcoming the problems of the corporation.
