Mumbai: A Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Mumbai has declared former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh as a proclaimed offender. Mumbai Police had sought the proclamation in an extortion case, saying that Singh is untraceable despite the issuance of a non-bailable arrest warrant.

Besides Param Bir Singh, co-accused Vinay Singh and Riyaz Bhatti were also declared as proclaimed

offenders.

Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Special Public Prosecutor Shekhar Jagtap said, Mumbai Police can now designate the former top cop as a wanted accused and initiate a process to declare him absconder. Mr. Jagtap added that the process for the attachment of his properties will be initiated if Param Bir Singh does not come before the law within the next 30 days.
