Mumbai experiencing continous rains

Mumbai and its adjoining areas including Thane, Palghar, Raigad have been experiencing continuous rains since early morning with few heavy spells.

The city and its suburbs witnessed intermittent showers throughout the day yesterday. 

The India meteorological department has forecast "intense heavy rainfall" in Mumbai over this weekend. Warnings have also been issued for West coast. The IMD has also issued a heavy rainfall warning at isolated places for Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts for the next 48 hours.

The forecast added that Marathwada and Vidarbha would receive light to moderate rains till Sunday. Raigad district



administration said that people living near hilly areas and near the river banks to move to safer places. Fishermen have also been warned to prevent from venturing into the sea. 

Almost all the rivers in the Raigad district are flowing above the danger mark while water from Amba River has entered Nagothane village flooding its low lying areas. 

Meanwhile, other parts of Maharashtra including Nanded, Washim, Sangli, Hingoli have also been experiencing continuous rains since last night. In Sangli, water from Krishna and Warna rivers have entered nearby villages after excess water was released from the dams.
