Passengers travelling from Mumbai to Goa on an Indigo flight yesterday, had a tough time as it got delayed by four hours. Indigo flight – 6E 711 was supposed to leave Mumbai at 1.30pm yesterday bit took off at 5.30pm. Passengers claim that it was delayed as 8-9 passengers from connecting flights were late and the airline waited for them.
Former Congress MLA Krishna Hegde, who was on the flight said, “From 1.30 pm we we kept hearing an announcement that the flight would take off but it got delayed till 5.30 pm. We boarded the plane at 4.30 pm. When frustrated passengers questioned the staffers about the delay, they started behaving rudely. One ground staffer even tried to bully a passenger and deplane
him, but other passengers stood up for him.”
When asked what was the reason for the delay, Hegde said, “Actually, some passengers were discussing that 8-9 passengers from a connecting flight from Udaipur got delayed, so the plane was made to wait for four hours.”
An Indigo spokesperson said, “IndiGo confirms a consequential delay of its flight 6E-711 enroute Mumbai to Goa today (Dec 1). All passengers booked on 6E-711 flight were informed by staff of delay due to change in weather. As the weather conditions continued to be the same, the schedule was further revised. Goa airport runway was also closed from 1630 hours to 1730 hours. This caused further delay of the flight.”
