In Mumbai’s Ghatkopar hoarding collapse case, metropolitan magistrate court on Sunday extended the police custody of the director of the advertising firm Bhavesh Bhinde till 29th May.

Bhavesh, director of M/S Ego Media Pvt Ltd was arrested in Rajasthan’s Udaipur city on 16th May three days after the mishap and was subsequently remanded to police custody till 26th May.

Police produced Bhinde in the court yesterday and sought an extension of his remand on the ground to inquire into other hoardings installed by his firm in the city.
 
The incident



occurred on May 13 when various parts of Mumbai witnessed a sudden sand storm as a result of which a giant hoarding installed in a petrol pump in Ghatkopar area of central Mumbai collapsed killing 17 people.

Bhinde was absconding after the incident when Police registered a case of culpable homicide against his firm.

The firm had installed a 120 ft by 120 ft hoarding beyond the permissible limit by the BMC  in Chhedanagar area of Ghatkopar which collapsed claiming lives of 17 people besides injuring 75 others.
