A 23-year-old Israeli woman died under suspicious circumstances at a hotel in Colaba in Mumbai on Sunday night.
The incident happened in a room of Seashore Hotel and the deceased has been identified as Pafta Sarit.
Sarit had come to India with her boyfriend Yaakov Veriron, 23, on January 31. The couple had travelled to Goa, Karnataka and Kerala before coming to Mumbai on March 12.
In his statement to police, Veriron said the couple indulged into
sexual activity after having dinner when Sarit complained of breathlessness and was taken to St George Hospital.
She was declared dead before admission after which Colaba police conducted a search in the couple's hotel room. A hashish tablet was recovered from the room after which Veriron was detained for questioning.
The primary post mortem report suggests that Sarit died of asphyxia. Veriron is being questioned by teams of crime branch and Colaba police presently.
