The Mumbai port has handled 321 ships and 9.6 million metric tons of cargo during the coronavirus-induced lockdown period. The Mumbai Port Trust has said that the port is fully operational now, in lockdown 5.0. Chairman of Mumbai Port Trust, Sanjay Bhatia in a statement said during the lockdown period, Mumbai Port has continued to handle large range of cargo such as steel, sugar, pulses, fertilizers, cement, motor vehicles, crude oil and chemicals, among others, at its berths in Indira Docks, Marine Oil Terminal-Jawahar Dweep, Chemical Terminal-Pirpau, and
midstream.
Mumbai Port Trust Chairman Sanjay Bhatia said the port additionally keeps on taking care of luxury ships at its office, empowering closing down of Indian group on board journey dispatches the world over. Six luxury ships have shown up in the port since June 12. He said some more are planned to dock to land Indian group individuals stuck on these "drifting lavish inns" since the pandemic stopped their activities at different places over the globe.
