Slain NIA officer Tanzil Ahmed’s wife succumbed to injuries on Wednesday at New Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), nine days after she was shot at along with her husband in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor.
Farzana, 40, was on ventilator support. She was moved to AIIMS Trauma Centre on Monday evening from a hospital in Noida where she was admitted after the incident.
She received bullet injuries in her abdomen and leg, sources said. One of
the bullets had pierced through her intestine, and a life-saving surgery was performed immediately after she was brought to the hospital emergency.
“There was some improvement in her condition, though she continued to remain critical,” said a source.
Tanzil Ahmed was shot dead by motorcycle-borne assailants in front of his wife and two children on April 3 when they was returning from a wedding at Bijnor, around 450 km from capital Lucknow.
