Wrestler Narsingh Yadav's hopes of participating in the Rio Olympics have been dashed as the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has denied him permission to take part and handed him a four-year doping ban. Narsingh was scheduled to take on Frenchman Zelimkhan Khadjiev in the 74 kg weight class qualification round today.
According to news agency PTI, CAS has denied Narsingh
permission to take part in the Rio Games and banned him for four-years. CAS was hearing into the World Anti-Doping Agency, WADA's appeal against the clean chit given to Narsingh by the National Anti-Doping Agency NADA, in a dope scandal.
Narsingh tested positive for a banned steroid following a dope test on 25 June by NADA, but it cleared him of all the doping charges on 1 August.
